Hyacinths are a great choice for indoor forcing during the winter months, but do require a little patience. Other then that one will be rewarded with color and its famous fragrance when little else is in bloom. One Carnegie Hyacinth bulb, sized 18/19cm, comes pre-planted in a nursery pot with drainage, which is topped with greenish sheet moss for a festive finish. • Potted Pre-chilled Hyacinths bulbs will require an additional period of cooling before they will bloom. By using our pre-chilled bulbs you speed up this process. Place the entire pot in a closed poly bag in the refrigerator ( you are putting them though a fake winter). Leave them there for about 3 months during which time you will see visible growth. Soil should stay moist so add a little water if they need it. You will see shoots appear as they grow. Remove from refrigerator and poly bag and place in a cool window to force them into bloom. Much has been written about forcing hyacinths which is an art and can be read about on the Internet. Do not shorten their fake winter in the refrigerator as it will cause the flower to not develop properly. The green sprout above the bulb, should be at least 1" tall at minimum.
